Virginia Ellen (Woolman) Poindexter Aug 31, 2006 Virginia Ellen Woolman Poindexter, daughter of Clifford Ival Woolman and Dessie Irene Parker Woolman, was born on April 18, 1943, in Springfield, and departed this life on Aug. 23, 2006 in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 63. Virginia was a financial aid director. She was a resident of Langley, Okla. On July 9, 1970, Virginia and John Curtis Poindexter were united in marriage in Kansas City. They were married for 36 years. She was a member of the Langley Baptist Church and the American Legion Womens Auxiliary in Spavinaw, Okla. Virginia played and sang in a bluegrass band. She loved quilting, making crafts and porcelain and ceramic dolls. She also loved to travel. Most of all being with her family was her joy. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents. Her survivors include her husband, John Curtis Poindexter of Langley, Okla.; four children, Cheryl Johnson, Oklahoma City, Okla., Charles Johnson, Bartlesville, Okla., Delorus Crawford, Tulsa, Okla., and Clarissa Thornton, Sand Springs, Okla.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Thera Burtt, Eagan, Minn., and Rosemary Cantrell, Dallas, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside service was Monday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m., at Yates Cemetery, east of Ava in Douglas County, with the Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Visitation was held at 11:00 a.m. to noon Monday prior to the service at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Services were conducted by Clinkingbeards. |
